Recruits 2014

Post by Lachlan on Sun Aug 03, 2014 11:30 am

Our recruits for 2014 have been average at best

Hardy. Injured when recruited. Must have a standout pre season
Hayes. Injured most of the year. His best footy has past him by. Not sure he would be worth a second year given his age. A younger player should be given a chance
Newell. Work in progress. Needs to make his mark on league footy next yr
Stevens. Serviceable. His ball use needs improving. He also needs to improve his two way running
Milne . Serviceable
Fisher. Serviceable. He will be 29 next year. Maybe his time is up as well

Overall our recruits haven't performed to expectations.

Need to get three or four quality players for next year. Maybe time to move some players on to get the recruits we need

We need to recruit Knowledgeable people to be on the recruiting committee ,not someone who puts their hand up just to look good.

Are you volunteering, Bundy?

Or just having your usual slag at people?

Who are you saying is putting their hand up just to look good?

Are you going to organise a lot of funds so we can afford big name recruits, or just snipe from afar?

Let's hope the afl don't implement a mid season Draft
It's hard enough recruiting now without more hurdles

Lachlan you are so right in your assessment of our recruiting. Very average this season. Let's not forget the ruckman we recruited from Mt Gambier who I think only played 2 reserves games.
Fisher is not the player he was & I wouldn't be surprised if Birss retired at the end of the season.
Need to recruit very well next season but do we have the money to do so?
Are we ever going to get Middleton back on the field.

On recruiting
wouldn't we benefit better by splashing  our money (in what West have) by approaching players
from other clubs instead of Interstate players
Reasons
they already live here, and would have a job , no go home factor,
