2015

Post by Lachlan on Sun Aug 10, 2014 9:08 am

Some big calls need to be made on the playing group after the last minor round game.

I think we need to start looking to the future. We need to develop some of our quality juniors next year.

Players such as
Birss who will retire
Hayes his time is up
Fisher his time is up
Ezard hardly played in the past 2 years due to Injury
Thompson. His disposal isn't up to league level
Schiller lacks pace at league level
Hardy must prove by Xmas that his knee will stand up in 2015

By moving some  players on we can also free up some money in the salary cap to recruit a few quality players
Which we need to do

Have been thinking this for a while but was proven yesterday that one of the first things we should do is enquirer about Mark Evans from Norwood. Has a great set of hands and is a beautiful kick for goal. Always plays well against us and doesn't look like there is a spot in their senior team for him. Could be a very good SANFL footballer if given the chance.

B&T

Agree Evans is a very good player. Has had some injury set backs over the past couple of yrs but he is somebody we need to look at for sure

What I reckon the club needs next year :
- Players with lightning speed
- A pre season with heavy emphasis on skills
- Posistive reinforcement , keep telling the team that they're good enough till the coaching staff are blue in the face . There are times , even in the last couple of years that I can see it's between the ears with this group and it's frustrating especially against Norwood.
- Recruit minimally , the club has plenty of youthful talent that will play with passion for the jumper.
- MM needs to develop a Plan B when the side gets behind. I hate that if we get more than 5 goals down in the first half the game seems out of reach . I can't remember the last time we had a come from behind win where we've been more than a couple of goals down .
- I'm a huge M. Still fan , he needs to stay inside the forward 50 arc for self preservation . We need his hands and goal kicking out there .
- Play 3 talls forward , we need to stretch defences more by having multiple options .

Fingers crossed for an uninterrupted preseason

Go Bloods !

Hopefully someone from the club has seen this release

From norwoodfc.com.au
EVANS TO EXPLORE HIS OPTIONS
21/10/2014 1:24:02 PM

Mark Evans has advised the club that he would like to pursue opportunities at another SANFL club in 2015 despite being contracted to the club for the 2015 season.
Mark is a terrific young man and has been a valuable member of our leadership and football program since starting his career at Norwood as a junior. We are certainly disappointed with his decision but we respect his wishes and will endeavour to work out a deal with his club of choice.
Mark debuted in 2009 and played 41 league games, kicking 61 goals.

I'm sure the club is aware of this.

Mark will attract a lot of interest from clubs, but may already have something stitched up.

We're continuing to target for our needs, keeping in mind what we have coming through as well.

All players get paid, Jamo, but you're quite right that we have a difficult problem with cash flow. We have to do something about it and you'll remember I said we would make announcements after the season ended.

Watch out for something on the official website next week and I hope there will be support for plans to fix this up.

PS: Do you mean volunteer staff?

Yes Testy 6:00 PM. Marksy sent out emails. Obviously he doesn't have your address. He asked for addresses in his email.

Yes there is a staff meeting Thursday night.
Simply an opportunity for everybody to catch up and in particular meet the new staff involved for season 2015.
So come Monday night when it all starts we've already met.
I asked on the email for the information to be passed onto people who I did not have their email.

Well good luck Lee with the "usual pre season meeting"

I have been involved for ten years doing what I do on a voluntary basis and have supplied my contact details (email address, phone no.) on numerous occasions to the club but still miss out on being contacted about these meetings of which I would like to attend.

I am not having a go at anybody on this site (Onya or Lee) but feel that the lack of communication is deplorable, keystone cops could do better, have a nice night.

Bundy, we have a system now where we make sure people who talk all day get gold-plated invitations and our hardest-working volunteers are deliberately not invited to anything. Wink

Just joking Very Happy

I think the club has/will phone those concerned to apologise and fix it for the future.

Can anyone tell me about Corey Solly. I remember a Jamie Solly a couple of years ago who was touted as a draft prospect but didn't get picked up. Ended up at Salisbury North.

Great to see Westhoff and Heinze returning.
