Mallee League

Post by Lee Harradine on Sun Sep 14, 2014 8:42 am

One of my 'duties' as a Board Member is to continue a good relationship with the Mallee League.

This 'duty' quickly became a very pleasant part of my football interest.

It started with a visit to Tintinara to attend the inter-league games against the Mid South East League, at U14, U16 and senior level. A great day of good level country footy.

Two weeks ago I attended the Mail Medal count at Lameroo, with Rodney Maynard as the guest speaker.

Yesterday, a longer drive to Pinnaroo for 4 finals, with a big crowd and Border Downs Tintinara winning the premiership against a gallant Peake team.

The oval was in perfect condition and West fans would be excited about some of the junior talent coming through in the Mallee. The junior game featured Josh Smithson, while 15 (14.) year old Alex Stidiford showed plenty of class in the senior Grand Final.

The League is extremely well run by Patrick O'Driscoll and Lou Boughen and Leighton Huxtable and my thanks to them for welcoming me and asking me to present the premiership medallions.

It's a healthy league and a very good standard.
