Re: U18 State Squad
I don't think so Frenchy. That is one of the major issues to be sorted.
The Crows priority when entering the SANFL was for their Reserve players to play together in the best comp possible & I don't think they have had much to say about the inequity however I don't think it will be too long before they speak up if Port keep approaching the SANFL the way they do.
At least the Crows use the comp for the development of their players to prepare them for the AFL rather than being hell bent on winning a premiership like their local opposition.
As much as I hate Norwood, I was so relieved in last years SANFL GF that they won.
All the SANFL clubs have to improve to ensure Port never win another flag. I think that is happening slowly but surely.

Mypaspective.
I agree with everything you have written about Port Adelaide. The whole
Thing is a farce. I to was so glad to see Norwood beat Port in the GF last year. The arrangement that Port have at the moment is totally inadequate and should unacceptable. Changes need to be made as its inequitable for all the other SANFL Clubs

They should not have an Academy side (B grade to the B grade). The Crows don't. They shouldn't be allowed to play at Alberton so that an AFL club profits from SANFL games (hence my point above re Port playing 2 games per yr at CMS) & they should be paying an annual license fee of $400K ($50K per club) for the privilege of playing in our comp (The Crows pay it)
It is totally inequitable & I have been informed by a reliable source that our club voted against their entry into the SANFL comp because it was not under the same terms & conditions as the AFC. We were the only club to vote against.
Also they need to be given 12 months notice of any changes to their conditions in the comp so even if they are informed of any changes b4 the end of Oct this year the changes would not be effective until 2017.
Thanks for your response, much appreciated.
I never realised these were the reasons for them having this unfair advantage and I only hope it can be rectified in the near future.
For them to have TWO b grade teams in our comp. is totally unacceptable IMO.

Back on topic, I note via the SANFL site that Will Snelling has been appointed Captain of the U18 side, with Aaron Francis a Vice-captain.

More than a quarter of this team are a direct product of WAFC COE. We got to be majorly proud of that! This is no accident. Collo, Marksy, Jarrod Meers and Mark Mickan all with significant input have helped these outstanding lads reach this point. Good luck to them all and hope they come away with a win. That will be memorable for them for sure!
