The Run Home

Post by Wolf Pack on Mon Jul 27, 2015 12:26 pm

Time to move on from what happened against the Crows.......
So we have Sturt at home
A week off
South away
Norwood at home
Port away.

It's a tough month.
Who comes in this week? Surely a ruckman against Kurtze. How many will Hartlett miss? Who replaces him?

I thought one of the good things to come out of yesterday's game was the form of Ben Klemke.

Looked at home and made good decisions.

Think West need to own up to how they played yesterday.
Don't play a recognized ruck.
Kick the ball in high to a small forwardline.
Sloppy kicking all day.
Sloppy handballing all day.
Not one shepherd for the day.
Playing kids that are tired.
STURT will smack us by 10 goals if we play like that again. Shocked Shocked Shocked

Looking forward to this and the next 3 games.

I think we'll have a good side and do well against Sturt.

With Hartlett to miss against Sturt the three tall defenders should be
Klemke,Keough and Milne.

Willits to play Ruck with Middleton and Hardy as key forwards with both
Having a run in the ruck at times

You could also swap Hardy and Klemke if needed

Klemke has been very impressive in the ressies and he was good yesterday.
I think he will be a better player next year with a full Pre-Season under his belt
He could be our swingman

ST I don't think any other club including Port would have beaten Adealaide with the side they had in on Sunday. That is the strongest team (18 listed AFL players) they have put on the field since they joined the comp. I think Brad Crouch is the only player on their list not playing at the moment.

Let's hope they continue their form against Norwood, South & Sturt over the next 3 rounds. They will no doubt have a big say in the shape of the final 5 with their current strength which will also impact our position on the final ladder. The next few weeks are the times we should be pleased they are in the comp. when they may actually help us with our ultimate goal.

I believe we have the team to beat both Sturt & Norwood at home to consolidate our position.

GO BLOODS.

The sad thing is that people at West believe that. I doubt that anyone at Norwood would use that as an excuse. When we beat an AFL team we rubbish them and when we lose we say that their team is too good.
The sooner the West Adelaide club changes this mindset the better we will be.
If Mickan took that thought into the game I would be angry. Last time I looked Adelaide was below us on the ladder.
Poor team selection and bad skills beat us. Shocked Shocked Shocked

I don't understand u again ST.

What do u mean " the people at West believe that". Believe what??

Games against the AFL Reserves teams are determined by their injury lists at the time we play them. I am sure Norwood would have approached a similar game to ours on Sunday with same attitude we did. Positively wanting to win but aware of the massive challenge they were facing with such a strong Adelaide side.

Poor team selection is a matter of opinion & neither of us have the knowledge of the reasons the selection panel have had. We must back them in.
As far as skill level it is usually suspect when sides are under immense pressure which also leads to implied pressure. We are not the only club to succumb.

Chin up old boy.

Of course our skills aren't as good as theirs. Their players were drafted because of their superior skills.

Very good point Aldo. Plus they have every day to train in daylight hours rather than having to work for a living.

That's the way it is at the moment. BUT!!

Things may change in the future as a continual assessment is being made on the impact (on & off field) of the AFL sides in our comp.

I am sure that Mark Mickan's only approach to the game was to beat Adelaide and he would have been very unhappy with our last quarter.

I know you only post about the negatives, ST, but I thought the selection of Ben Klemke worked out well.

Ryan Willits is a good player and I hope he's back in the team very soon, but it's impossible to say whether he would have made 10 goals difference last Sunday.

The Coach and players treated the Adelaide game the same as any game, both before and after.

As for the Coach, he's made some great moves. Shifting Keough to defence and making Schiller an inside midfielder are two terrific moves.

His recruiting has also, IMO (I'm on that Committee, to be open about it) very good. You're a Willits fan, Porps has been great, Brad Helbig has had a difficult time, but Errin Wasley-Black has been excellent and Ben Klemke looks like becoming a regular.  From last year, Kaine Stevens has been really good.

I see plenty of positives and love the way we're playing most weeks.  You have a different view, that's fine.

'I know you only post about the negatives, ST, but I thought the selection of Ben Klemke worked out well.'

9. 'Good start for Klemke. '   Never let the truth get in the way of your reality.

As for I'm a Willits fan. Well der. If you recruit a 27 yr old you had better play him. You cannot have a guy ruck all year , get concussion and then put him in the reserves and then drop him. Rubbish. Shocked Shocked Shocked

No I didn't, does that affect the reason Adelaide's players were drafted?

Sometimes I wonder if we all support the same club.

I respect most people's views even if they conflict at times but PLEASE.

Can't we all try to be positive a bit more often.

We win games & some people complain. We lose games & the world is closing in.

For Gods sake we have won 9 games with 4 to go. How did the last couple of years go.

Let's all pull together hey!!!!

It's funny that if MP or R&B&R post something its positive but if you think differently then its a negative post. I think its healthy when you have a different opinion especially if you think you are right. Shocked Shocked Shocked

Conflict and anger are the preferred options for some.

Even on a football forum supporting a club.

If you say so. It's the risk you take by being open about what you do at our club and communicating it to members and posters.

Several posters here volunteer, ST. Despite your cynicism, we do it for the love of our club, our first and only team and we see no reason to hide it even if we could, because we're all proud to help the Bloods in any way we can and we enjoy it.

I also think it's time for both of us to move on.
