West V Port Post Match

Post by dl550 on Sun Sep 06, 2015 5:49 pm

You bloody beauty!!!!!

So proud of those boys!

Proud to call myself a West Adelaide fan today. These are the wins which make all those tough years worth it!

However, job is still ahead. Let's not get complacent. Quiet confidence, let's keep building. We need to believe we can go all the way, because we have proven more than enough times this year that we can.

How good was that !!

We looked a bit nervous early but after Helbig smashed Reynolds (fairly) we took control and should've won by more.
That bump set the tone and they looked average after that.
Josh Schiller's 27 disposals and 10 clearances were all class. Unfortunately he may not play many more games for us, he's AFL talent, his work in close is elite.
Hopefully the boys get a lot of confidence out of that win and take it into next week
Continue with the intensity and commitment of the last 3 quarters and we'll win the whole damn thing

GO BLOODS !

Helbigs bump & Hartlets attack in the aerial contest which absolutely laid the Port bloke to rest scared the crap out of them.

From then on it was one way traffic. Considering how slippery it got, our ball skills were pretty good but it was our fierce desire & pressure which lifted after qtr time that set up the wonderful win.

Very proud today. Bring on the Budgies!!!!!
Hope Taite's hammy is ok.

To come from 24 points Down early in the second quarter was a fantastic
Performance from 21 committed players.
We dominated every part of the game from early in the second quarter.
I really think we should have won by more.
Once again we just lacked a key marking target up forward.

My best players
Stevens - has been a bit quiet over the past couple of weeks however he
Was all class today. He is a midfielder that kicks goals
Schiller- Will win our most improved. His work in close has been fantastic all year
Schmidt- after a slow start he became a very important player for us
Anderson- This guy has so much upside. He is the fittest he has ever been and
He has the body and speed to become a very good midfielder
If he is prepared to work hard in the coming pre-season
Snelling- love this kid. Rarely plays a bad game and I thought his ball use was very good
Caire- has really played well the past couple of weeks and I think he has used the ball
better
Hartlett- His Discipline this year has been outstanding. He's in line to be in The Advertiser
Team of the year

We won well today however next week we are coming up against a side who has dominated the competition this year.
Time for this footy club to accept that WINNNING is the only thing that matters when you play sport

well done bloods a great team effort. need to start matches better but the boys sure do fight out every match well. the playes are a very committed group who play for each other. thought willo improved after average start and helped changed the match.once we got on top of port our skill level improved as did our confidence. i thought our players hit the opposition bodies with a fair and fierce attack. i have enjoyed the trip this year so far and just hope for the players who deserve the ultimate result but i am proud of all them including the unlucky ones not being not be selected. made a statement before match win today we will beat eagles next week . do not think that what i saw today makes my statement too outrageous

What a great win!
After qtr time we were harder at the contest.
Hartlett and Tommy Keough were fantastic in defence.
Our Boys put their bodies on the line when it counted.
Well done Bloods!!!
Let's beat the Eagles next Sunday and book a GF birth!!!

Random Thoughts.

1. Great to watch exciting and committed football today.
2. Love watching Ando and Harts and Helbig creating fear in the opposition.
3. Lost the hitouts but won the clearances.
4. Willo after quarter time was very good in the ruck.
5. All three big guys need to be better in the air.
6. Well done to Greeny on 100 games.
7. Schiller is turning into Schmidty mark 2.
8. Port under pressure have crap skills.
9. I barracked for Centrals today in the first game. See ya Norwood.
10. Should have got Mickan years ago.
11. We can beat the Eagles next week. Shocked Shocked Shocked

Agree with all that has been said. We were more desperate and hard at the ball and the Port players (fairly though) from the second quarter onward. A fantastic effort from all players with Harts, Keogh and Caire again great in defence. We pressured Port to make mistakes and turn over the ball, we need to do this again against the Eagles.

There is nothing I like better than to beat Port and how good is it to beat them in a Final. Go you Bloods!

"We're a happy team at Westies".

Great to see ST so happy too. I agree with all you posted ST although I thought that after qtr time Big Brucey did a top job to nullify Redden who was giving them first use early.

Yes the talls need to get more of the footy in field play especially in the air but it was hard for them when the rain came.

Is it possible that Port go out in straight sets??????? Very Sad!!!!!

Eagles will be hard to beat but we are a chance

Would rather play Port than Centrals who are playing with a lot of confidence.

What's the news on Silverlock?

That is Port's biggest loss for the year.
I thought it was set up by Schiller's slick hands at stoppages, Stevens' run and carry and Snelling's in and under work. These three (along with Hartlett's many great saves) ensured we were still in the game when our rucks were getting smashed. Thankfully Willits turned it around after half time and got on top of Redden.
Our combination of physicality and attacking run is a pretty formidable one when it's up and running.

walshdcw, I have the game recorded and stored on my DVR. I should be able to burn it to a ‎DVD-R(W).

Sorry Luke that was just a bit of a joke.

What I meant was that it is so good it is worth paying $500 for.

I know u wouldn't be charging that.

Don't bother. They don't sell dvds anymore, they give you a link so you can download it. The problem, in my experience, is that because they are HD files (as required by the AFL) it was going to take 10 hours to download one quarter. They offer no alternative.

Yes, outrageous. I wouldn't dare ask for more than $300.

Actually, is it legal for me to make a copy to give away?

So I've burnt a couple of DVDs of the West vs. Port QF if anybody else besides 'walshdcw' wants a copy.
I can put them behind the bar at the Club at around 5pm today.
Let me know if I should do this, or any other possible arrangement, by 4pm today.
