Disappointing that Milne has decided to retire.
He was a very important player to us as he could play
either end of the ground.

As Aldo has stated in his post we now need to sign a couple
of key defenders to cover the loss of Milne

Well done to the footy dept in signing all other key players

From the club's email:

"Our 2016 squad is beginning to take shape, with 21 of our 22 2015 premiership players, as well as a number of promising young-guns having already signed on for next season."

21 of 22? The Eagles aren't going to be happy when they learn we had 22 out there against their 21.

Milne and Tom Keough leave us short in defence.
We need to recruit a defender.
I notice Andrew Hayes and Justin Hardy are not on the 2016 list.
Will they be at the club????
They could both be played in defence.

Looking forward to Justin playing next season.

The recruiting committee is continuing its work to make sure we cover any losses.

Milne gone and Keough is still here. I think that Tom's AFL dream went when Wundke kicked 4 on him.

Yes he didn't have a great GF, ST, but I think he will still get a spot, most likely as a rookie.
I think we might lose 2 or 3 in the rookie draft, on top of the youngsters in the main draft.

Was looking at a draft website that listed the top 60 candidates. Only Francis,Bonner and Snelling were on that list. So I agree with ST don,t think we will loose  too many. Maybe Haysman also.

So tonight we list Francis, Bonner and Matyhew Hayball (know nothing about him)

Hopefully go through the rookie draft on Friday unscathed

No. All SANFL clubs are paid the same amount now, about $50K, plus a little extra if you have more players drafted.

Was surprised to see only 3 players taken in the main draft.
Will be interesting to see how many go on Friday.
Port and the Crows have 5 picks between them, I think.

Bonner won't be the only one.
The rookie draft will claim a handful tomorrow.
I'm tipping Snelling, Keough, Haysman, Brind to go.......
Agostino maybe......

There are several other good SANFL players that also missed out on the main draft WP so it would be most unusual for one club to lose all those players you listed.
Possibly 1 or 2 at the most I would think.

Clubs quite often choose local lads as Rookies & I don't think that most of our boys are fit for purpose with the Crows or Power. They have got plenty of smalls & have already sured up their defensive stocks so we might even come out of it unscathed.

Well done to the boys picked up today.
BUT we have some big holes to fill now.
Will be hard watching Beechy play for the Ravens.

Beech deserved a chance. Sad as it is to see him play for the Crows reserves.

I guess Stubbs can replace Snelling, but the loss of Keough and Beech will hurt.

Happy for the guys to get a chance...but feel depressed at the same time. Smile

I said all along we would be smashed at draft time.
To be honest I thought Haysman and Agostino would go to.
Losing Keough and Milne now makes our defence wobbly. Harts is our key defender, but not much else after him.
Beech is a gun and can't be replaced!!

Now Riley Bonner and Will Snelling will play for the port magpies and Jonno Beech for the crows against us.
