Premiership Cyclethon

Post by Mypaspective on Thu Dec 03, 2015 6:45 am

On Sunday February 28, 2016 there is a Premiership Cyclethon being planned in conjunction with the official naming of the new park next to the entrance to the clubrooms.

A sign will be unveiled on the day after the ride at about 11am by the Mayor of the City of West Torrens, naming the park "Premiership Park" & it will list all of our premierships on it.

This was approved at a recent council meeting. We attended the meeting & asked (with tongue firmly in cheek) that council consider changing the council name to the City of West Adelaide. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that to happen.

There will be a sausage sizzle & drinks to mingle with the players afterwards.

We are looking for as much support for this event as possible to raise funds to assist our recruiting campaign after being slaughtered in the draft. If you are not in a position to ride, please consider offering your services as a safety marshall. It is a simple task & will only take a couple of hours in the morning.

Register your interest by speaking to the club office.

Sounds like a great initiative and name.

Having walked through it in the last couple of days I would have thought "Dog Sh!t Park" might have been an equally appropriate name!!!

No you can't call it that, Unley Oval has that honour.

Guys I will get onto council & see if they can put a doggie Doo dispenser with plastic bags in the park.

It really annoys me when people don't pick up after their animals. I cop it all the time on our verge at home.

In the mean time watch where u step.

I have spoken & emailed the CEO of the City of West Torrens today who understands the problem & has told me that they will put a Doggie Doo dispenser & bin in the park. Also some signage if necessary.

After that is done all we can do is hope people are a little bit more responsible with their pets habits.

See you at the Cyclethon on Feb 28.

There is a plastic doggie do bag dispenser in the park opposite the rubbish bin.

Unfortunately it's the same old story. " you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink".

People have to take responsibility for their pets but do they???

I think the exception should be that Bloodhounds should be allowed to poo there.
