TEAM 2016

Post by Second Team on Sun Jan 24, 2016 2:51 pm

Sounds like we have almost have our players for 2016.

In. O'Brien, Stubbs, Lachlan and Josh Ryan. Slatts ???

Out. Beechy, Milne, Keough, Snelling, Ezard and a few more.

What will our best team look like? With improvements in some of the fringe players and a bit of luck with injury we will have a very good team.

Sorry I forgot Aaron Anderson. If everyone is available I don't think I would like to be a selector.

The reason I put big PETE Nelson at FF is because I think his height will create a big target & stretch the opposition. He is a good mark & straight kick. FIELKE, Greeny & Haysey would have to be alert when ball comes to ground & help him with chasing out. That would be his only weakness.

I'm sure there will be many other options but here is my first go at it.

Not a bad effort. Don't think Nelson can play in the same team as Willits and Webb. I would go Klemke ahead of Hardy as well.

Going on the prelim final I think a young chap called Brind might make an impact this year too.

I think Stevens would be wasted in a fwd pocket ST especially when he was our MVP through the finals series in the middle.

We are fortunate that several players are so flexible they can play in various positions so varying opinions on the team positioning will naturally occur.

The positive thing is we still have a formidable group especially if we don't get too many injuries.

Have Stevens changing with O'Brien in the forward pocket. Sounds like a great idea to me.

The trend these days is for coaches to rotate & rest players on the bench so I can't see that happening.

I know the under 18's (40) have restricted rotations, has the league team have restricted rotations this year?

Just my opinion.  Maybe with the decreased rotations I would think that Stevens will go forward at some time in the game. If you don't like it I don't really care. I didn't realize I was speaking to the premiership coach directly.

Fair enough ST. You do take offence easily. I didn't say I didn't like it, I just thought it is unlikely IMO.

However you may be right, with the rotations being reduced this season it could be a good option & no you are not talking directly to the coach just a mere mortal with an alternate opinion.

Brodlach I think League & Reserves have 50 with the ability to change 3 players at each of the 3 breaks so 59 all up.

Not a bad effort Punchy Smile but i think Agostino should be in your first 21, he's a classy young player, has a footy brain and a big engine which showed when he blitzed the other players with the 3k time trials yesterday.

If I had taken offence I would not have been so polite with my answer.

We're all juggling around pretty much the same core group of about 23-24 players, but for balance mine would be:

Fielke Webb J.Hampton
Tuck Green Haysman
Silverlock Stevens Schiller
Helbig Middleton Porplyzia
Caire Hartlett Stubbs

R: Willits O'Brien Schmidt

Int: Agostino Anderson Watchman

I will watch the trial matches before selecting my team.
There are going to be a few quality midfielders who will miss out.

As for our talls,Webby,Willits,Hartlett and Middleton are certainties.
Players such as Klemke,Hampton,Hardy, Watchman, Nelson and Lachie Ryan
to battle for the remaining 2 or 3 spots
