I read in the Advertiser on Monday that Tom Papley who debuted for the Sydney Swans on Saturday had a family connection to the Swans. Both his grandfathers Max Papley And Jeff Bray played for South Melbourne in the 1960s.Jeff Bray was one of the great players to have played for West Adelaide .He played from !953 to 1963.

I can remember a game out at Kensington Oval (OK, I know what you're thinking!)

Westies were playing West Torrens. They had Neil Hawke at CHF and Geoff Kingston at FF. Not a bad forward line.

Jeff Bray demolished Neil Hawke in the first half and they moved Geoff Kingston out to CHF and Jeff Bray did the job on him too.

Pretty fair player.

I reckon he played with us later than that because I can remember seeing him and it would have been after '63.
