Schmidt & Porplyzia

Post by blood bath on Tue Apr 04, 2017 11:09 am

Noticed our website reads

"Chris Schmidt will miss 6 weeks after having an arthroscopy on his knee.

Porplyzia had scans on his right knee after having some issues at Friday nights trial game."

Is anyone able to expand on this? i.e. why Schmidt is so far away from playing considering the length of the off-season. What "issues" Porps may have?

A worrying start to the new year

Chris had a setback at training only a week or so ago. Until then, he was on track to play.

Jason came off in Friday night's trial game with a knee injury after a contest and we're waiting to get the result, but it may be serious.

Shattering news....

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl/local-footy-sa/sanfl/west-adelaide/west-adelaides-jason-porplyzia-to-have-knee-reconstruction-and-miss-entire-sanfl-season/news-story/cb2ba95320c1430cc448d53ff8e75748

"West Adelaide star Jason Porplyzia will miss the SANFL season after damaging his knee in the trial game against Glenelg at Richmond Oval on Friday night. Scans have revealed he ruptured the ACL and will require a knee reconstruction. Porplyzia, a premiership player with the Bloods in 2015 after returning to the club from Adelaide, also missed most of last season because of knee issues. The injury is a huge setback for the Bloods as they look to rebound from the wooden spoon last year. The Bloods meet South Adelaide in Richmond on Friday night in the opening round.

So disappointing for Jason and the whole club is with him as he gets over this setback.

Very disappointing for Jason and the club in general. Let's hope he can
develop his coaching skills this year.

I'm thinking the football career of 'Porps' is over.

With the loss of Tuck, O'Brien, Porplyzia and Schmidt (whose body suggests he hasn't got a long playing future ahead of him) we need to generate a new midfield, and pretty quickly.

All those players mentioned are big bodied inside mids. Fielke,
Wasley-Black must see regular time in the midfield this year.
Aaron Anderson is another player with potential to playan inside player however, he is overseas at present.
Is he likely to return to the club this year?

Obviously players such as Noble,Haysman, Silverlock and Bately will be given plenty of opportunity to play in the midfield, however they are outside players.

Aaron Anderson should be back this month, I think.

He'll need time to get match fit.
