West vs Adelaide July 15th

Post by brodlach on Tue Jul 11, 2017 7:26 pm

Well, as Meatloaf once sang 'Two out of Three ain't bad'.

I think we might get over an injury riddled Crows to make it three out of four and within reach of handing over the spoon

Looking at some stats today and I couldn't believe that our highest goal scorers this year are Middleton and Green with a paltry 11 majors each.
That is less than a goal a game...

However, I think we can jag another win this Saturday and keep our chances of avoiding another spoon alive.

Good win. Kicked 8 goals in a row after being about 4 goals down to race away.

Big game against South next week, big chance to get off the bottom

Great spirited win. Glad I made the effort to go. I thought it was a pretty entertaining affair. Middleton's marking a hight light, just needs to kick better for goal. Love beating the glam Crows...Something to build on for next year.

Great win by the boys. Now if you all can be quiet and bang the fence louder that would be great thanks

This is very amusing†

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl/local-footy-sa/sanfl/west-adelaide/adelaide-crows-allegedly-ask-six-west-adelaide-fans-to-stop-banging-the-fence-during-bloods-victory/news-story/5ed957754835b44808edcec9f7bd8530

Perhaps if The Crows authorities approached their players to not allow so many goals against them there wouldn't have been as much banging on the fence.

Looking at the footy budget our men have an average age of 23.1 yrs.†
Those Crows boys average age 22.3 yrs.†

I think we were just better than them. End of thought!

A very pleasing win today given we trailed by 25 points early in the 3rd quarter.
Kaine Stevens was absolutely brilliant today and was best on ground by a long way.
Daniel Caire has had a wonderful season he would be high in our B&F.
He is back to full fitness and it's very important he plays on next year.

Greenie Kicking 5 goals was also very important and having Jake Wilson
back in defence was pleasing to see.

A very good team effort today let's hope we can back it up against South.

Wonderful win by the Bloods today against the Crows Reserves running out clear winners 14.13 to 12.4 by 21 pts. Never has the phrase Ďall played wellí been more applicable. It was a terrific team effort and, at last, some long and direct footy. We took the game on, defended well and kicked to an open forward line where opportunities suddenly appeared.

Still, a very strange game. The Crows took out Beech and Gallucci but had Scott Thompson in the middle. Pillion didnít play for us. The first half was a bit of an arm wrestle with the Bloods grimly hanging on but with some poor kicking for goal. The Crows threatened to blow the game apart but everytime they did we seemed to hit back with a goal.

Then after half time the Crows took complete control. They kicked the first 3 goals of the 3Q and with no reply from us they led 11.2 to 6.9 late in that Q and the contest was turning into circle work for the AFL reserves team. At the 18 minute mark Schiller booted a goal followed by a couple more from Green and Caire and we were hanging in at 3Q time.

You would imagine that the professional Crows would be far fitter than the amateur Bloods but we ran away from them in the last booting 5 goals to their one (at the 26min mark) to run out emphatic winners. We had booted 8 goals straight to dominate the game. Some of our forward movement over this 30 minute period was simply brilliant as we outran and outmarked the Crows.

Hard to pick best players but Green with 5 goals, Stevens (36 touches), Middleton with 9 strong marks (but only 3 behinds), Karpany, Caire and Hill were outstanding. Again, McPherson won the ruck with 33 HOs although his opposite, Hunter, was better around the ground. Schiller and Fielke had 17 tackles between them.

Well done boys.

Have been following the silly issue reference cheer squad and wanting bottled water.

I was not there but understand that back at the after match presentation the club made its support for the fans involved and the clubs attitude to the matter very clear in a very public and professional manner -- well done to all involved

Player, volunteer staff, professional staff, coaches, board, supporters are just role titles --- we are one we are west adelaide and actions like this cement the bond to each other

Just to add to the compliments of particular players (though all played well) with Wasley-Black, who accurately delivered into the forward 50, and Burgess, just because of his consistent good play every week.
