West v Norwood

Any changes? If Porps comes up, who drops out? Head?
I'm hoping Rankine kicks ten and single-handedly wins the game for us.

You can't seriously be that humourless. And/or not work out that it's a reference to his last performance against Norwood.

Probably not, although Josh Ryan was dropped after making the best players.
And I have to admit, after watching the first half again Head did a lot more good work that I didn't pick up originally.

Norwood are a very good football side.
Will probably play off in the grand final.
Our endeavour was great, but the skill level between the sides is bigger than the Grand Canyon.
Season Officially over tonight.

I hope that one day Westies will be able to have a player that can minimise the influence of Simon Phillips.
He has absolutely destroyed us for about 7 years!!!!!!

Norwood? Eagles,Sturt and North are significantly better sides then the remaining 6 clubs in the competition.
Our Midfield has been destroyed tonight.

Agree lachlan. No midfield at all tonight, and too often Baulderstone just put it down a Norwood mid's throat. That's where it started but not many had a good game tonight. The contrast between them handling the ball cleanly and us fumbling was very stark. Every weakness was shown up and perhaps we have more than we thought.
Despite a few usual clangers, I would have given Karpany as our best. He worked hard all night and did some very smart things. Then maybe Stevens just for the weight of possesions, and Laube whose first half was excellent. He's quick and looks a smart player. But that'd be about it.
We can still make the finals though.

The skill level between the two sides was wider then the Grand Canyon.

Against mediocre sides like Centrals our ball use in the first and last qrts was good, however against a top side like Norwood it doesn't stand up.
We need to find some players that can use the ball and make good decisions under pressure.
I did think Laube did some good things early.

Smashed in the centre. We tries various combinations there but nothing worked. We fumbled they were clean. Norwood gave us a lesson tonight in how to play fast, clever, skilful and direct footy. Thankfully, they took their foot off the pedal in the last Q otherwise it might have been a lot worse. They had one of their strongest teams of the year and are the team to beat for the 2018 premiership.

We fought hard all night but were simply outclassed. Did Middleton pick up an injury: didnít see him much after a good start? Agreed that Karpany was our best. He plays low to the ground and this suited the conditions.

Letís put this game behind us, refocus and concentrate on winning our next few. With our poor percentage we need to win one more game than South who have a tough run home.

Ressies lost by a point.

Put it behind us and move on. Was always going to be tough as will Sturt at Unley. The rest of the games are quite winnable and if South keep loosing we can still make the 5. For such a young side and coming from where we were last year that would be a good ending to the year, and starting point for the next 2 or 3 years.

Mason went off early, but hopefully will be OK for next week.

Without downplaying just how far off Norwood we were last night, it makes little difference in the scheme of things. We were never going to catch South on percentage, so need to win 2 games more than them still (3 if they win today).

Norwood have now won 10 in a row and we should have beaten them at home. Baulderstone didn't play that day, though.

Ollie Johnson was excellent in the Reserves, but once again we lost a game due to poor goalkicking.

It's a part of the game that brings huge rewards if you get it right.

I hope we give Elliott Duncan a few games to prepare him for regular league next season.
In the Reserves last night he showed great composure under high pressure, makes correct decisions & is an elite kick. (Something we could do with)

Cummon!!!! I thought we got on OK ST!!!!!

Goes to show how important Baulderstone is to NWD. Although big Andre competed well he struggled against Baulderstone compared to winning against the other NWD rucks.

Our mids had their pants pulled down.
