Matthew Hayball

Post by Barks on Tue Sep 11, 2018 3:17 pm

Just seen that Matthew Hayball has been delisted by Geelong and he is a former West Adelaide junior so he needs to most definitely be one of our targets for 2019.
He is a key position defender and since we will be without our star player Chris Burgess who deserves to be in the AFL, we certainly canít afford to miss out on this opportunity to regain Matthew back to our great club!!! Go U Bloods !

We have been in touch with Matthew, Barks.

He is likely to be playing local footy in Victoria with his mates.

Matthew is more of a forward flanker, too.

Good call, though.

Fair enough Lee I follow westies juniors that get drafted in the AFL because I like to see how they progress and from what Iíve seen this year mainly Geelong VFL side had him named at Full back and mainly in Defense so being at 186cm these days every player tall or small needs to learn to be able to play any position and also the Geelong profile states that he is a utility player. Cheers for your feedback Lee and I hope we can recruit what is needed to see some success come our way in 2019 Smile

Ridiculous piece of drafting, I don't know anyone at the club who thought he was ever going to be an AFL player, and now it looks like he's lost to us.

Thanks Barks, that's a fair call.

Some of the other juniors you've no doubt watched who are on AFL lists include Kaiden Brand and Sam Durdin.

Anton Hamp Claremont who was named in this years WAFL team of the year at Centre Half Back also can play up forward he was also on the west coast eagles rookie list. We got nothing to lose in seeing if he wants to play for us.
