New Book Empty New Book

Post by Lee Harradine on Tue Feb 26, 2019 9:44 am

Started an exciting new project.

I'm writing the sequel to 'Bloods, Sweat and Tears', which was West Adelaide's history until 1987. I'll bring the history up to date, with my personal take and experiences over that time as well. I hope it will be a good read and a valuable club resource.

Will interview all coaches and many players to get the inside stories.

Lots of good times.

You only spelled that song correctly because you're not Dutch Very Happy

What was your favourite old song again? I still have nightmares thinking about it.

Good news Lee . If you need any help with the book my mate Chris Collins who is on the West Adelaide History committee could be a great help . Chris has been doing interviews with past players of West Adelaide and he has also written several books about soldiers whom went to the WW1 from South Australia country towns . Cheers Ian

I have got a couple of very juicy chapters Lee that I was preparing for Chris when we were previously considering the book.
Just had to be slightly modified to prevent litigation.

This willtake some time, but the stories are rolling in and I've made a great start.

Thanks to the people who are helping.

Of the majopr players over the past thirty years in particular, who would you like to see profiled?

I'm meeting the great man, Mark Mickan this week or next and have spoken to Daniel Caire, Ryan Ferguson, Logan Hill, Time Symes, Adam Richardson and several others.

It would be interesting to hear from Kevin Morris on his time coaching with us & his thoughts on the 1991 grand final.

Some profiling on Paul Patterson, Dean Howard, Scott Simister, Ed Richardson, Dion Myles, Peter Banfield, Glen Goss, Simon Munn, Travis Tuck, Shane Tuck, Ryan Willitts, Chris Chubb, James Ezard, Jamie Andriske, Ben Watkins would be fabulous. So many more players that just escape me at present.

Looking forward to the book Lee.

‘Wildman Jack’

I agree with all those names.

I loved Scott Simister, he was a fantastic player who could change a game very quickly. The mark and goal he kicked to beat Port at Football Park is something I have never forgotten.

Glen Goss became a very good footballer when moved to full back.
He struggled earlier in his career when he played forward.
He kicked 17 goals for Mayne one day.

Simster,Goss,E.Richardson,A.Richardson and T. Symes are 5 of my all time Favourite Players of the West Adelaide Football Club.

Have to agree with Lachlan.
Simister was just one of those players that you pay your money to watch!!
Kicked plenty of goals and took spectacular marks!!
Only played 3 years at The Bloods but he was a ripper!!

Now Max Gasparroni rings a bell for a story -----  Lee please correct if my poor memory is failing but i remember Max was tearing up the field at reserves but not getting a game at league due to the coach at time not believing he was a league footballer --- finally under pressure from supporters and club management the coach selected him and told him he had 3 games to prove that he was a league football.

After 3 league games in which he did not perform well he was dropped not only from the league but the club at the end of the year???
