Crows’ Past Players and Officials president Rod Jameson previously told The Advertiser that it, and the AFL Players’ Association, helped Fielke with his out-of-pocket hospital expenses.

“He had surgery but had an adverse reaction to some of the medication and was in intensive care for a couple of days but it was something he had to have done,” he said.

“When we heard about the seriousness of what happened, we were happy to help one of our own.”

Brothers Brodie and Riley Barker face court over bashing of SANFL star Grant Fielke in his home

Two brothers charged over the bashing of inaugural Adelaide Crows player Grant Fielke inside his family home have faced court for the first time.

Inaugural Adelaide Crows player and West Adelaide star Grant Fielke was assaulted by two brothers with whom he associates at the same football club, a court has heard.
Brodie Nicholas Barker, 26, of Gawler South, and Riley Thomas Barker, 29, of Gawler East, appeared in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Thursday.
The pair is charged with one aggravated count each of assault causing harm over the incident at Hewett near Gawler.

Fielke was left with severe facial injuries, which required intricate surgery, and had six plates inserted to hold together his face.
The 1985 Magarey Medallist, who now works as a real estate agent, is also assistant coach of the South Gawler Football Club under-17 side, which won the 2019 premiership.
Police allege Fielke was assaulted by the brothers inside his Rosella Court home about 3am on September 22.

South Gawler Football Club held its senior presentation night the day before.

Police prosecutors on Thursday asked Magistrate Yoo Fee Chin to prohibit the brothers from attending the club. But lawyers for the pair sought to adjourn the application for a week to obtain further instructions. The court heard the brothers regularly attend South Gawler Football Club and that Riley Barker plays both cricket and football.
“Perhaps for the time being your clients should indulge in sporting activities elsewhere like rock climbing or mountaineering,” Mr Chin said.

Mr Chin adjourned the matter and remanded the brothers on continuing bail to face court again next week.

I spoke to Grantley a couple of weeks ago & he claims he is feeling good & going well. Back to work so all seems positive.
I hope those idiots get their just deserts. What they did in someone’s private house needs to be dealt with severely. But then again our justice system penalties are very questionable at times. Wet lettuce leaf stuff comes to mind.
